The world of PhoenixMud
Phoenix MUD has a rich and full world. Currently spanning two continents and several islands, Phoenix provides over 8000 rooms for players to explore. Development is always being done on the world, and a third continent is on its way.
Players begin their adventures in the great city of Heliopolis, on the continent of Caledon, where the Phoenix once descended according to legend. There are many places for brave adventurers to explore, including the neighboring city of Sundhaven. Once the adventurers have gained a bit more confidence in their skills they may wish to venture further outwards, perhaps towards the great desert city New Thalos. From here, there are routes to many corners of the world, including the ruins of the old city of Thalos, and quick entrance to the Dragon Sea.
Travelling across the Dragon Sea to the continent of Aglaron, characters must stop in Aethelfyrd, the greatest city in those parts of the world. From there, many opportunities await, such as the legendary Crystal Castle, and the great Pyramid situated in the Southern Desert. Players may even explore rumours that there is an entrance to the planes of the Abyss in the nearby area.
For those not wishing to travel across the oceans, there are many adventures to be had in the area surrounding the city of Heliopolis. Rumours of a giant space ship crashed into the Dragonhelm mountains offers brave adventurers a quick route to fame…and maybe more. The evil Drow stage many raids on the surface from their undeground caverns and cities. The Forest of Hoan-Dor west of Heliopolis hides many secrets, including ancient temples devoted to long lost religions.
The ocean traveller has much to explore as well, including the Eucalyptus forests where the Roo and the Aborigines wage a neverending war. The especially foolhardy might want to try to penetrate the jungles and swamps of Plague Island. Rumours of a secluded Shaolin Temple somewhere along the coast also abound.
